Sweetwaters On The River Restaurant Point-of-sale Computer System Breach
The computer system of Sweetwaters on the River restaurant in Valley River Inn in Eugene was hacked between June 19 and Oct. 3, the restaurant said Wednesday. Valley River Inn’s computers were not effected.
As a result of the security breach, the information magnetically encoded on credit or debit cards, which may include the cardholder’s name, card number, card expiration date and other information encoded by the card issuer, may have been obtained by unauthorized persons. The exact number of affected customers is unknown at this point.
The restaurant advises customers who used their credit card at the restaurant between June 19 and Oct. 3 to check all statements for the card used at Sweetwaters to identify unauthorized transactions and to review the credit reports maintained by the nationwide consumer reporting agencies over the next 12 to 24 months. Each year a free report from Equifax, Experian or TransUnion is available.
Cardholders can report any suspected identity theft to law enforcement, including the Federal Trade Commission. Additional information to assist the cardholder in protecting against identity theft is available at the FTC’s website at www.ftc.gov/idtheft or by calling the FTC at 1-877-438-4338.
